role in Jobs For Youth by maintaining and growing programs.
For over twenty-eight years, Jobs For Youth has built hundreds
of relationships with Chicago area companies, the JFY program
helps break down the barriers - cultural, social, racial,
geographic, economic, educational, and experiential - that
isolate young people from the economic mainstream. This strongly
suggests that their integration into the workforce is successful
and sustainable. A sampling of graduates had combined earnings
of more than $1.75 million in a 15-month period, reported
by the Illinois Department of Employment Security's Insurance
(UI) Database.
Jobs For Youth is Chicago's largest non-profit dedicated
to helping young men and women ages 17-24 from low-income
families become a part of the economic mainstream; and, in
the process, provide the business community with motivated,
job-ready workers. The core program includes pre-employment
training, job placement, GED instruction and supportive services.
All services are free to the clients.
